Hi all

I'm Karl the great great great grandson of William Yelton.

I've been reading through all the information that has been posted on the forum and I would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone for your efforts in finding williams family.

I had no idea about William and his unfortunate sacrifice he made in the great war. The first thing a knew of him was through my dad who received an letter off of Patricia Davies last Friday and since then I've been in contact with multiple people who have shared a lot of information. Since then I've been in contact with Eedie Dawson who the dog tag has been sent to in the UK and we are meeting up on Monday along side two of the closest live relatives of William my grandma's sisters.

I said to Kevin the other day that me and my family were in france in a little village Seraucourt-le-Grand just south of Saint-Quentin. Where we visited a couple of the war cemeteries in the area. I've always been in to my history and the two world wars . So to think we were only 50kms away from where William is buried and we had no idea about him has shocked us.

Ones again thank you to all. And we will be checking on the forum for any more information in the future.

J'ai lu tous les messages publiés sur le forum et je tiens à remercier chaleureusement chacun d'entre vous pour vos efforts dans la recherche de la famille de William.

Je ne connaissais rien de William et de son tragique sacrifice pendant la Première Guerre mondiale. J'ai entendu parler de lui pour la première fois par mon père, qui a reçu une lettre de Patricia Davies vendredi dernier. Depuis, j'ai été en contact avec plusieurs personnes qui m'ont fourni de nombreuses informations. J'ai également contacté Eedie Dawson, à qui la plaque d'identité a été envoyée au Royaume-Uni, et nous nous retrouvons lundi avec deux des plus proches parentes vivantes de William : les sœurs de ma grand-mère.

L'autre jour, je disais à Kevin que ma famille et moi étions en France, dans le petit village de Seraucourt-le-Grand, juste au sud de Saint-Quentin. Nous avons visité quelques cimetières militaires de la région. J'ai toujours été passionné d'histoire, et notamment des deux guerres mondiales. Le fait que nous n'étions qu'à 50 km du lieu d'inhumation de William et que nous n'ayons rien su de lui nous a profondément choqués.

I am glad to know that you have found the story of your ancestor and that his military identity tag is back home. I live not far from the Bouchoir's new British cemetery and as soon as the weather will be kind I will go and take a photography of his grave.
