Je suis heureux de me présenter à vous tous.

J'ai publié un recueil de lettres concernant la Grande Guerre dans les Vosges de la France. J'ai acheté une collection d'environ 140 lettres à partir d'un chauffeur d'ambulance bénévole irlandais dans La Croix-Rouge française pour les années 1915 à 1919. Il a servi dans le n ° 2 Section Sanitaire Anglais J'espère que certains d'entre vous peuvent trouver leur intérêt. Je vais aussi faire des recherches plus pour mon site et se féliciterait de toutes les réponses à mes questions. Je pense que j'ai beaucoup plus de questions que anwers en ce moment!

Welcome Kevin, and what a coincidence... I'll be guiding a very knowledgeable and distinguished gentleman and his charming wife on the battlefields of the Vosges and Alsace over the next three days. He has been researching on SSA 1, 2, 3 and 4 for some time now, and I guess he should be highly interested in getting in touch with you, so that you may share common knowledge and material on the topic.

If you have no objection, I think he - and I - will get back to you within a few days after our battlefield tour. Consequently, feel free to ask whichever question you may have to ask, and we both will do our best to try and answer them as accurately as we can.

Thank you very much for your kind words. This is perfect timing and as you say, what a coincidence! Of course I will be more than happy to hear from you again. I have so much I want to learn about Arthur and the work he did in the Great War. I feel these people are forgotten heroes and I want to try to change that, especially in England. We over here in England forget that the war was fought mainly on French soil and we certainly learn very little about the bravery and suffering of the French people and the brave French "Poilu".

I certainly have enough material to write a book, which is something I am thinking seriously of doing.

"This is perfect timing and as you say, what a coincidence!" : even more than you think, because as you posted your first message here, this couple and I were standing before Grayson's grave at Essegney, and remembering the involvement and casualties of SSA(A) 3...

We'll soon be on our way, in the footprints of Herbert Ward, and are heading East today. By the way, Hargreaves is mentioned in the letters you own as the one being wounded by Grayson's side in July 1915, but a French war diary bears the name of a so-called Young, who was a chauffeur too, suffering from a severe head wound after the vehicle was shelled. Does this name sound familiar to you?

My friend will contact you next week, as soon as he gets back home in England.

I am using my iPad and cannot work out how to send a private message, so my apologies to other users.
Thanks again for you message, I am so looking forward to hearing from your visitor. I am away fom home until later ths week, but I will look for the man called "Young" when I return. Most f the letters on the website are not fully transcribed, and I have many more to add still!
