UB122 de la série UB118 à UB132 de 512; t 643 t en plongée, lancé le 2 février 1918 qui s'est rendu le 24 novembre 1918, s'est échoué en 1921 alors qu'il était remorqué vers le chantier de démolition.

Bonjour,

"Of all the vessels sunk in Falmouth Bay, the most improbable were the six Germans U-boats wrecked in 1921. Nine captured submarines were allocated to Falmouth for gunnery practice and experiments, and eight of these duly arrived and were anchored at Gyllingvase. Two were intentionally sunk during trials but the remaining six were swept on to the rocks along Castle Drive during a winter gale and for many years could be seen lying in shallows, where they could easily be boarded. One sank close inshore near the bathing beach and part of its rusting hull still shows at low water ; the others sank along the line of rocks and their remains lie scattered over a wide area. Over the years their ownership has changed hands several times and they are still being salvaged."
