Antioche — Patrouilleur auxiliaire, ex-chalutier rochelais (1915~1917).

Le patrouilleur auxiliaire Antioche fut administrativement considéré comme bâtiment armé en guerre du 25 mai 1915 au 25 avril 1917.

[Circulaire du 25 avril 1922 établissant la Liste des bâtiments et formations ayant acquis, du 3 août 1914 au 24 octobre 1919, le bénéfice du double en sus de la durée du service effectif (Loi du 16 avril 1920, art. 10, 12, 13.), §. A. Bâtiments de guerre et de commerce. : Bull. off. Marine 1922, n°14, p. 720 et 723.].

“ ANTIOCHE, Smith's Dock no. 766, 1905, 249 grt, owner O. Dahl, La Rochelle, reqn French Navy 25.5.1915, to Italian Navy same day, in service 1.7.1915 as the vedette boat/tug NEMBO. Stricken by the MN 25.4.1917. On 9.9.1924 renamed CAMOGLI, sunk on 10. or 30.10.1943 by German air attack near Patmos, Aegean Sea. Raised post-war, in Greek service until 1970. ”

The wreck of CAMOGLI was indeed raised shortly after the end of the war and sold by Patmos municipality to M.Tzonis, Piraeus.

I have located her in Piraeus Register under number 1203, as a cargo motorship named NINA with specifications 200 grt. 40 X 6.5 meters. Engine is recorded as Harley 480 HP. Grt: 200.
Her story continues like this:
11.1953: sold to N.E. Anatonlikis Mesogeiou & Co.
7.55: renamed CHRYSANTI
1963: Sold to P. & I. Fillipakos, Piraeus
6.68: renamed MARIA K.
3.70: sold to E. & G. Karpovic, Piraeus; resold same month to foreign buyers and deleted from the Greek registers.

If you manage to find her final fate please let me know.

Interesting, dido.
While missing in LR 1956-57 she is in Lloyd's Register 1962-63 as "Chrysanthi II" ex "Nina" ex "Camogli", 200 GRT, 115 NRT, owned by S. Baxevani, G. Rodousakis & G. Androusakis, Piräus. Official number 1203, callsign SXVU.
Oil engine made in 1941 by Harland & Wolff (not Harley) and fitted in 1951.

I have slightly different data: raised and rebuilt as a cargo ship by the Patmos municipality in 1948, 200 grt. In Aug. 1951 NINA for M. Tzonis, Piraeus, 11.1953 to NE Anatonlikis Mesegeiou & Co. Piraeus, 7.1955 CHRYSANTHI II for ..., 1963 CHRYSANTI for P. & I. Fillipakos, Piraeus, 6.1968 MARIA K. for E. & G. Karpovich & Co. Piraeus, sold abroad 3.1970, in LR to 1976.

I believe the rebuilding occured after the sale to M. Tzonis. At that time, Tzonis was a very active merchant who bought wrecks either for scrap or rebuilding.

En 1912, indicatif HJDN, immatriculé à La Rochelle, armateur Oscar Dahl, capitaine Machefaux.

— 16 mars 1911 : Aborde le sous-marin Loutre — alors commandé par le lieutenant de vaisseau Jean Adolphe LABORY — qui effectuait par 6,5 mètres de fond un exercice de plongée au large de La Pallice.
