In the first photograph, the soldier at the Left of your Grandfather is maybe a "Chasseur alpin" soldier (?).
Could you, please, to make an enlargement on these two men at the Left of your Grandfather, for to look their collars? Thank you.

Your photographs on the website are really Great, I like to see old photographs and it was a beautiful ship, of my opinion.
A part of our history.
I hope that some French uniforms experts could to be going here, for to have a possible period by uniforms.

If not a mistake, for the last enlargement I think a sub-lieutenant by his kepi, as for the officer with "176" on his collar.
