There were two ships of this type in the German Navy:
the "Vulcan" launched in 1907 and completed 1908 was lost in a gale 26.04.19 while en delivery voyage to the Allies.
The "Cyclop" was launched in 1916 and completed in 1917. 1919 to the British and scrapped in Germany in 1923.
The picture is showing the "Vulcan".

VULCAN and CYCLOPS were submarine salvage vessels -- that is to say, they were designed to raise sunken submarines.
