Bonjour à tous, The Allied sinking attribution for UB 70 w was that she was depth charged on May 8, 1918 by the destroyer HMS Basilisk and the armed yacht USS Lydonia north of Algiers at 38°08'N, 3°02'E. The U-boat Basilisk and Lydonia attacked was, however, not UB 70 but rather U 38 . Best wishes, ...

Re: MEMLING — Cargo — Brazil & River Plate Steam Navigation C°, Ltd.
Bonjour, As for the September 27, 1917 loss date for UC 21 given by Miramar, that is the postwar Royal Navy sinking attribution for UC 21 . It is clearly wrong. The British had (incorrectly) decided that UC 6 was sunk in an air attack but then needed to explain submarine wreckage found at 51°30’N, 1...

<t>Bonjour à tous, Bonjour Olivier,<br/> <br/> First of all, thanks for getting a hold of these documents. Like Oliver, I've never come across any details of this action. It's not mentioned in any of the usual sources, including Spindler or Robert Grant's various books. The mention in Dwight Messime...

<r>Bonsoir à tous, <br/> <br/> In his book <I><s></s>Verschollen<e></e></I>, Dwight Messimer mentions a Greek press account of an antisubmarine attack on August 8, 1916 six miles off Paxi (Paxoi) by "HMS 368." Could this have instead have been the French Torpilleur n° 368? If so, do French re...
