Good morning, my name is Dave, I am very interested in the fighting that took place for Verdun in WW1. I am ex British Army, (Royal Tank Regiment) and came to study Verdun after touring Ypres and the Somme. Verdun has had more of an impact on me than I expected, my interest is growinging the more I find out.
I had the chance to buy a Verdun verterans set of medals, i bought them because it has a photo of the gentleman, and his citation from the 13th Regiment d'Artillerie. His name was Lucien Yger, No MIe (or 8)03594, of No 9 Batterie. The citation is for the Croix de Guerre, dated 18 november 1916.
I would very much like to find out where in the Verdun area Lucien was based, and generally get more information on him.
Can anyone out there offer me any advice on how I can find these things out?
Thank you
Dave
