Bonjour,

La première vue présentée par Rutilius est prise depuis le fort du Roule qui domine la ville et le port et que l'on voit sur les deux derniers clichés.

"C'est sur un de ces quais que s'élève, depuis 1858 la statue équestre, en bronze, de Napoléon Ier, qui est là bien à sa place, car il a fait beaucoup pour la prospérité de Cherbourg.
L'auteur de cette statue,M. Armand Le Veel de Briquebec, a représenté l'empereur dans l'attitude du commandement qui lui était si naturelle, les yeux fixés sur la mer et la main étendue vers le grand port militaire et la digue".
