Couple of related questions:
My English book about the Poilu says that typically (and they actually use a real example of a soldier from the classe of 1917 !) when the soldier arrived with his unit he would be placed in a back area for a few months before going to the front - in fact, in the example given the soldier was only sent to the front line in November 1916 having arrived as a soldier in february 1916.
My question first question is this:
When did the time for the first chevron start for this soldier ? February or November ?
Last question - Where can I buy some Turco Chevrons please ?
