Hello all,

I am new to this forum, so if the format of my question is wrong, please excuse me.

I am trying to find out some information about the attack by the French 342 Infantry Regiment between Fleury and the l`ouvrage de Thiaumont on 23rd august 1916 at Verdun. The action resulted in the capture of a large number of German prisoners. The 342 Regiment records on the net don`t seem to cover this date. Does anyone have any information they can help me with?

Thanks in advance

Hello Jim,

Automatic translation, sorry...

17h30. In south-eastern Thiaumont, RI 71st progressing to a hundred meters and made a thirty prisoners (16th and 173rd regiments).
18h15. On the right, the soldiers of the 342nd and the 80th RI progressing rapidly in the direction of the "crête de Fleury" and Thiaumont, their main goals. They are prisoners six officers, 18 non-commissioned officers (sous-officiers en Français) and 180 men.

From "300 jours de Verdun", page 406.
"The Péricard" must be more precise ... But I do not have the book!

Best regards
Arnaud
