Chechia badges/insignes

Hello everyone,

My Grandfather was a Tirailleur during World War One (4e Regiment de Tirailleurs Algeriens).

I have seen a photo of him with his Chechia with a "4" on it and I have seen his Chechia with what I can only describe as a 4e Regiment de Marche badge (similar to but not exactly the same as the "star shaped" [not elephant containing] 4e Regiment de Tirailleurs Tunisiens badge which you can see on ebay).

I have also seen other chechias on ebay and Google with a numeral and with a crescent underneath it

Will someone please tell me which is the correct badge for a 4e Tirailleur ! Did the badges change from Regiment to Regiment de Marche ?

Should my Grandfather's Chechia have a crecent underneath it ?

Where can I buy the numeral 4 to add to my collection please ?
