Someone expert in interpreting a Livret Militaire

Dear Sirs,

I have my French Algerian Grandfather's Livret militaire (or war/pay book) for the First World War.

I want to contact an expert in interpreting its contents. I am happy to pay for their services.

Can anyone provide me with a French First World War researcher who is extremely familiar with the reading and understanding of such documents ?

My Grandfather served in 8th Regiment de Tirailleurs Algeriens (RTA) and the 4th RTA. I want to know when he left Algeria for France and what the difference between service auxiliare and service arme are in particualar.

However, as my Grandfather wrote a lot in his livret militaire, I really want to contact someone who knows what they are doing and to receive a report on its contents. I am happy to scan in the pages and email them on.

The best thing to do in oder to obtain informations you need is to scan your documents and publish it here.Read and understand the scarce data found in such a document is very easy.

Howewer, I think the document wich evocated by you is a diary and not a livret militaire, because only the administration officers and the coy's commanders were allowed to write on it.

Voici les documents qu'André m'a demandé de mettre sur le forum : 16 pages du carnet. Toute information sera la bienvenue, plus particulièrement le lieu où il devait habiter en 1916, la date de son départ pour le front, ses affectations successives. Ce soldat a une citation du 4e RTI, et il semble avoir participé à une campagne au Maroc au 4e RTA. Il se demande aussi que vient faire le 4e RZ dans son livret.
N'hésitez pas à répondre aussi en Français. Des équivalences anglo-saxonnes aideront tout de même beaucoup.
